Wildland Employment 

Are you ready to serve your community, gain real-world emergency experience, and work outdoors during AZ's Wildland fire season?

Position Highlights:

I Pay: $15.25/hour

  • Schedule: Minimum 24 hrs/week during fire season (while in district)
  • Deployment: Schedule may increase when assigned to an active wildfire

In-District Duties:

  • Maintain wildland firefighting tools and equipment
  • Perform fuel reduction and defensible space work
  • Assist with fire station and facility maintenance

Training Provided by RRFD:

All selected hires will be trained to Wildland Firefighter Type 2 (FFT2) level:

  • S-130: Firefighter Training
  • S-190: Introduction to Wildland Fire Behavior
  • L-180: Human Factors in Wildland Fire Service
  • I-100: Introduction to the ICS
  • IS-700: NIMS Overview

Minimum Requirements:

  • Physical Test (WCT):
  • 3-mile walk in 45 minutes
  • Carry a 45-lb pack (provided)
  • Interview:
  • Must complete WCT before oral interview
